Trojans Conclude Play at Georgia Invitational

Troy will now gear up for the regular season opener against 11th-ranked Clemson

ATHENS, Ga. - The Troy University women's tennis traveled to the Georgia Invitational for the second consecutive season looking to gain valuable experience for the upcoming regular season.
The Trojans return just three players with extended playing experience from a season ago in sophomore Karoline Grymel (number one singles/doubles), senior Leonie Guijt (number three singles/one doubles) and Rosaura Ramirez-Vega (number six singles/three doubles). They head into the regular season looking to replace players at number two, four and five in singles play; as well as three doubles player heading into the 2011 season.
They gained the experience they needed over the weekend as they faced numerous ranked players from 15th-ranked Georgia, 45th-ranked Indiana and Kansas State. On Sunday, the Trojans closed out the Georgia Invitational against the host Bulldogs.
Four different players from Troy faced ranked players in single action on the final day, headlined by Gabriella Veiga facing 58th-ranked Cameron Ellis. Guijt joined the ranks of players facing a ranked singles player as she fell to 67th-ranked Nadja Gilchrist, while freshman Lubov Dorafeeva fell to 95th-ranked Lilly Kimball.
The final Trojan to face a ranked player on Sunday afternoon was freshman Olfa Dhaoui, as she fell to 97th-ranked Maho Kowase.
The Trojans will now return to Troy and gear up for the regular season opener on the road against 11th-ranked Clemson on January 21.
