Indoor Season Opens on Friday in Athens

The Trojan women's tennis team will play three teams in three days in north Georgia
ATHENS, Ga. – The Troy University women's tennis opens the 2011 indoor season at the Georgia Invitational for the second consecutive season, hosted by the University of Georgia, on Thursday.
A three-day round-robin singles and doubles event at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Courts, the tournament will feature players from 15th-ranked Georgia, 45th-ranked Indiana, Kansas State and the Trojans. Admission to the Georgia Invitational is free.
The Trojans have four players back from last season, including their top two players in singles and doubles. Sophomore Karoline Grymel (Hamburg, Germany) returns for her second season in the top spot in singles and doubles for the Trojans; while her doubles teammate Leonie Guijt (Rijnsburg, Netherlands) also returns for her senior season. Guijt will play near the top in singles, and will also be Grymel's partner at number one doubles throughout the year.
Also returning for Troy this season is Rosaura Ramirez-Vega (Seville, Spain) who played at number six last season, while Gabriella Veiga (Londrina, Brazil) also returns as a doubles specialist and will also play in singles competition for the Trojans.
The Trojans also welcome in Olfa Dhaoui (Nabeul, Tunisia), Olivia Battye (Liverpool, England) and Lyubov Dorofeeva (Moscow, Russia) in for the 2011 season as true freshman. Redshirt freshman Kelly Irving (Knoxville, Tenn.) will not participate in this weekend's tournament after undergoing offseason surgery, but will be ready for the season in February.
