Trojans Close Fall With Second Place Finish

The Troy University Rodeo team closed the fall season over the weekend at Murray State with the Trojans men's team notching its second consecutive second place finish.
The Trojans piled up 530 points in the event to finish second behind Missouri Valley College (610). Troy also finished second in the Trojan Stampede Rodeo Oct. 14-16 behind UT-Martin. The Trojans closed the fall portion of their schedule in sixth place in the Ozark Region.
The Troy women closed the fall with a fourth place finish at Murray State, a one spot improvement over their finish at the Trojan Stampede. The Trojans stand fifth in the Ozark Region at the end of the fall slate of events.
Troy was led by Stetson Aldridge at Murray State. The Folkston, Ga., native captured first place in the calf roping competition with a combined time of 18.4 seconds. Aldridge also tied for sixth in team roping as a header and his 220 total points in the event was good for third in the All-Around standings.
The Trojans women were led by Whitney Hazouri, who scored in three events and finished fourth in the women's All-Around competition. A native of St. Augustine, Fla., Hazouri teamed with Jeb Brown in the team roping event to earn 90 points for third place with a total time of 22.0 seconds. She also finished seventh in the breakaway roping.
Other members of the Troy team to post scoring results at Murray State were Justin Walker with an fourth place in bull riding (70), Lane Taylor with a second in team roping as a header (100), Will Bradley with a tie for sixth in team roping as a heeler (50), Kassandra Smith with a fifth in breakaway roping (80) and Lanie Culligan with a sixth in goal tying (40).
Aldridge holds the overall lead in the Ozark Region in calf roping with a total of 405 points and Walker stands second in the region in bull riding with 250 points. Taylor closed the fall in third place as a header in team roping with 275 points. The top three individuals in each event at the end of the spring qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo.
