Troy Loses to FAU

“Today just wasn't our day at the park,” coach Bobby Pierce said. “Our pitching staff didn't locate their pitches and they made us pay with the long ball.”
FAU (21-12, 10-6) scored a run in the third inning on a home run from Nick Arata giving the Owls the 1-0 lead.
The Trojans (21-15, 10-5) answered with two runs in the top of the fourth inning when Trevor Tyre walked and advanced to third on a double off the bat of Adam Bryant.
The Owls had one out in the fourth inning when Troy Bubley popped up to Pierce in short right field but Michael Precise called off Pierce. Precise dropped the ball but the infield fly rule was enforced and Pierce threw behind Alex Silversmith for the apparent double play at first but Daryl Otwell stepped on the bag and didn't tag the runner.
“That was just a case of our guys and their guys not knowing the rule of the play,” Pierce said. “All Daryl had to do was tag the runner and we would have been out of the inning with no damage.”
FAU would touch up
The Owls added seven more runs in the seventh inning thanks in part to two three-run home runs in the inning. FAU scored 16 runs in the final three inning enforcing the run rule.
Jeff Green (0-3) took the loss on the hill for the Trojans going three and two thirds innings and giving four runs on five hits. He walked three and struck out four.
The Trojans will return home Tuesday night as they open up a five game home stand with
