TROY, Ala.- Junior Beau Brooks' triple to right center plated the go-ahead run in the sixth inning giving the Trojans the four-game sweep of Rhode Island, 3-1.

Troy (4-0) took the lead for good in the sixth inning when Daryl Otwell got a two-out single through the left side of the infield setting the table for Brooks. Shohei Fujita pinch ran for Otwell and scored on Brooks' triple.

Rhode Island (0-4) was able to get a run in the fourth inning when Oliver Palmer led off with a single followed by Zoey Angulo reaching base on Tyre's error. Zach Zaneski walked then Dan Rhault drew a walk scoring Palmer for the Rams only run of the day.

Junior Trevor Tyre opened the game with a homerun to left field giving the Trojans the early 1-0 lead. The blast was Tyre's fifth homerun of his career.

Sophomore Steven Felix led off the eighth inning with a walk and scored on a double to right field from junior Lance Miller increasing the Trojan lead to 3-1.

Andrew Dickinson continued the streak for the Trojan pitching staff as he went six innings of one-hit baseball. He only allowed one run while walking two and striking out six.

Senior J. J. Whetsel (1-0) was the beneficiary of the scoring in the seventh innings as he picked up the win going one inning and walking one batter and recording one strikeout. Closer Josh Storm (1) picked up the save in the ninth inning. Storm gave up one hit in the ninth while walking and striking out one batter.

Nick Greenwood (0-1) left the game in the seventh inning on the short end of a 2-1 deficit. Greenwood struck out 10 Trojan batters while only allowing two runs on four hits.

The Trojans will be back in action Tuesday when they travel Marietta, Ga. to square-off with Kennesaw State. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
