Troy Lands Three on Sun Belt All-Tournament Team

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Troy's Zach Crotchfelt, Aaron Piasecki and Blake Cavill were selected to the Sun Belt All-Tournament Team on Sunday after a strong week for the Trojan trio in Montgomery.
Troy finished the week in Montgomery with a 3-2 record, defeating rival No. 5 seed South Alabama twice while going 1-2 against top-seeded, No. 8 nationally ranked Southern Miss who defeated Louisiana in Sunday's championship game. Troy's three selections on the Sun Belt All-Tournament team are its most since landing four in 2018 -Â Brandon Lockridge, Matt Sanders, Andrew Crane and Daren Osby.
Zach Crotchfelt was a warrior on the mound for the Trojans, earning two wins on the week while tossing nine innings with one earned run, 12 strikeouts and three walks. The senior left-hander earned his first win with four innings out of the bullpen against South Alabama on Thursday, striking out four Jaguars without an earned run. The Texas Tech transfer then made his first start of the season in Saturday's win over Southern Miss, tossing five innings while striking out a career-best eight hitters with one earned run.
The Troy leadoff man Piasecki racked up 11 hits in five games, which included four multi-hit games. The senior slashed .407/.427/.667, adding two doubles, a triple, a homer and seven RBIs while striking out just once. Piasecki homered in Thursday's win over South Alabama and came a homer shy of the cycle in Saturday's 8-6 win over Southern Miss while his triple cleared the bases to expand Troy's lead to 8-2. Defensively, Piasecki fielded a perfect 1.000 in 24 chances as the Trojan shortstop.Â
Cavill homered twice in the opening win over South Alabama and finished the week slashing .356/.500/737. Cavill tallied seven hits and four walks across five games, adding a three-hit performance in Saturday's win over Southern Miss.Â
