Ryan Fineman joined the Troy baseball coaching staff in August 2024 as assistant coach/recruiting coordinator. He enters his second season with the Trojans in 2026, working with Troy's catchers while coordinating the program's recruiting efforts.Â
In his first season at Troy in 2025, Fineman helped lead the Trojans to a 39-21 record and a No. 14 national ranking, the highest in program history. Troy catcher Brooks Bryan was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team and was selected in the eighth round of the 2025 draft by the Kansas City Royals.
On the recruiting trail, Troy's 2025 transfer portal class ranked No. 19 nationally according to 64Analytics, and was the No. 2 transfer class among mid-majors.Â
Fineman was most recently at Old Dominion, where he spent the 2024 season as an assistant coach while working with catchers and assisting with hitting and recruiting. Under Fineman, the Monarchs finished the 2024 season with a 31-26 record and reached the quarterfinals in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
Fineman spent the 2023 season at Alabama, having joined the Crimson Tide's staff in the summer of 2022 as their Director of Player Personnel. In that role, he assisted with the development of the team's hitters and catchers and assisted with on-campus recruiting. Prior to his time in Tuscaloosa, he was a volunteer assistant coach at New Orleans (2021-2022) and an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at Chipola Junior College (2020-21).
Originally from Westlake Village, California, Fineman was a four-year starting catcher at Indiana from 2016-2019, helping the Hoosiers capture a Big Ten regular-season title in 2019 and make three appearances in the NCAA Regionals. After earning Big Ten All-Freshman honors in 2016, he hit .284 with seven home runs and 37 RBIs as a junior in 2018. He signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Tampa Bay Rays and played one season with their Gulf Coast rookie team in 2019.
