Powell is beginning her first season as a student assistant coach for the softball program after a stellar four-year career for the Trojans. She ranks second all-time in Troy history with 19 home runs and eighth all-time with 30 doubles.
2007: Batted .285 with five home runs and 37 RBI’s and two stolen bases in 61 games (61 starts) for Troy ... Recorded multiple RBI’s in conference games on three occasions (UNT ? 4/14, ULL ? 4/21 and WKU ? 5/9) ... Named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week for the week of March 6.
2006: Started all 70 games she played in for the Trojans... had .264 batting average... had 201 at bats, 53 hits and 13 runs... hit eight doubles and led the team with nine home runs during the season... accounted for 88 total bases... led the team with 32 RBIs... on the defensive end held a .947 fielding average with 162 putouts and 69 assists... had a season-high eight putouts on March 17 against Bowling Green... contributed four assists on May 12 at North Texas.
2005: Played in 48 games starting 31 for the Trojans... hit five home runs, three doubles and 20 RBIs... earned a .250 batting average and a .438 slugging percentage... accounted for 14 runs and 42 total bases... had four RBIs twice... defensively had 46 putouts, 36 assists and a .976 fielding percentage... recorded five assists on April 19 against Mercer and had three games with four putouts.
2004: Played in 26 games starting 12 for the Trojans... hit for a .216 batting average... batted for a .324 slugging percentage... notched four doubles and three RBIs... accounted for three runs and 12 total bases... earned a .293 on base percentage... defensively had 22 putouts, 26 assists and a fielding percentage of .906... knocked in two RBIs against Alabama State on Feb. 21... earned a season-high four putouts against North Carolina on March 14... had six assists against Maryland on March 12.
High School: Played for five years at Clarke County High School, in Grove Hill, Ala. ... named first-team all-state her junior and senior years... was a member of the first-team all-district and all-area squads (2001-03)... named first-team all-region (2003) and first-team all-metro (2001-03)... a Wendy's High School Heisman Finalist... named the Most Valuable Player for four years by her teammates... received awards for slugging percentage, batting average and on-base percentage from the team... won the Will 2 Win Athlete award... had a batting average of .457 her senior season, with eight home runs... had 76 RBIs and 68 stolen bases in her final season... played basketball for four years... named to the all-district team and team MVP in basketball three times ... Received the Hustle Award, Rebound Award and Point Guard Award... played volleyball all four years... named to the all-state, all-region and all-district teams... received the Player of the Year Award... was selected for Who's Who Among American High School Students.
Personal: Born on March 22, 1985, in Grove Hill, Ala. ... daughter of Marsha and Dennis Powell... her older brother, Ryan, is a men's basketball graduate assistant at Louisiana-Monroe ... has a younger brother, Brandon, who plays football at the University of Alabama... majoring in sport and fitness management.
