Moves into position as a student assistant coach after spending the last three years as a member of the squad.
Played two seasons for coach Mark Mincher at Huntsville High School where he helped the Panthers win City and Area Championships his junior and senior years. As a senior, led the Panthers to a 29-6 record while batting .407 with 44 hits, seven doubles and two home runs. Was named first-team All-City and All-Metro Honorable Mention and was selected as a team captain. Played in the East/West All-Star game. Holds the school record for runs scored in a season (44).
Was born on May 11, 1987, in Huntsville, Ala., and is the son of Lamar and Michele Futch. Has one sister, Kirsten. Was an honor student and a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. Was named to Who’s Who Among America’s High School Students. Is working toward a degree in Math.
