Troy Concludes Road Swing at Jacksonville State on Sunday

TROY, Ala. - Troy soccer concludes its non-conference road schedule on Sunday, taking on Jacksonville State at 4 p.m. The Trojans will look to win their second match of the season and first away from home as they take the pitch against the Gamecocks.Â
Troy fell to No. 6 Alabama, 3-0, in Tuscaloosa on Thursday night. Despite playing to a scoreless first half, the Crimson Tide dominated the second half, scoring three goals while holding a 19-3 advantage in shots.Â
A 48th-minute penalty awarded to Alabama proved to be the difference, as Troy goalkeeper Taylor Richards guessed correctly but was unable to keep the shot out. The Crimson Tide added goals in the 79th and 81st minutes, both coming from centering passes that were tapped into the Trojan goal.Â
Troy will look to receive more production from its offensive attack against the Gamecocks. First-year Mallorie Springs provided the Trojans' only shot against Alabama, forcing the Crimson Tide goalkeeper to make her lone save of the evening. On the defensive end, Madisyn Marchesi has anchored the team and is the lone Troy field player to play every minute so far this season.Â
