Troy Soccer Travels to No. 6 Alabama

TROY, Ala. - Troy soccer returns to the road for two matches this week, beginning with a test against No. 6 Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Thursday night.Â
The Trojans are coming off their first win of the season, a 2-0 home victory over Stetson on Sunday. The victory marked head coach Jake Wyman's first win in Cardinal & White.Â
Madisyn Marchesi scored Troy's first goal of the season in the 31st minute, a header assisted by Irene Torres and Brooke Slater. The goal marked the transfer's first career goal after spending two seasons at Northern Arizona.Â
Isabella Hartofelis doubled the Trojan advantage in the 53rd minute with a goal scored from the edge of the 18-yard box. Placed perfectly over the outstretched arm of the goalkeeper; the goal was Hartofelis' second of her career.Â
Goalkeeper Taylor Richards was forced to make just two saves as the Trojan defense kept its first clean sheet of the season.Â

Through the first three matches, Troy has relied on underclassman to contribute. First-years Braelyn Carey and Irene Torres have earned spots in the starting lineup, while 13 of 21 players who have received minutes are underclassman. Troy's leading minute-getter a season ago, second-year Isabella Hartofelis has left the field for just 14 minutes in her career, including seven minutes in each of the Trojans' opening two matches of the season at Middle Tennessee and Southeastern Louisiana.Â

Alabama is a perfect 4-0-0 to begin the season and is ranked No. 6 in this week's IWSOC Coaches' Poll. The Crimson Tide most recently defeated Nebraska, 2-0 in Lincoln. Ashely Roni has scored four goals, which ranks 12th nationally. Larkin Thomasson and Avery Brown have also scored three and one goals, respectively. Goalkeeper Madi Mungula has started all four matches this season, and has a 1.00 GAA.Â
