TROY, Ala. – Coming off a strong finish last time out, the Troy men's golf team looks to build on that momentum as the Trojans head to Tallahassee, Fla., for the annual Seminole Intercollegiate, hosted by Florida State at the Seminole Legacy Golf Course.
The Trojans shot 9-under as a team in the final round of the Golden Nugget Invitational two weeks ago, their best round of the fall or spring. Lee Poppell and Pablo Gracia carded rounds of 66 and 67, and the Trojans didn't get to count a 1-under from Thomas Crane, who was playing as an individual in the event.
Those three headline head coach Clay Bounds' lineup for the trip to Tallahassee, as all three are either under-par or within a stroke of par for the season.
Gracia paces the Trojans, averaging 71.00 per round, or -0.65 strokes vs. par, while Poppell is sitting at -0.35 vs. par and Crane is at 0.94 vs. par. Gracia and Poppell have nine rounds under-par on the year, while Gracia's seven rounds in the 60s lead Troy.
The Trojans have been strong finishers all season long, averaging a 286.00 in the final round, 2.33 strokes better than their opening round tally. Yerger has posted a 73.5 in his final two spring rounds of the year, while Becker returns to the lineup for a second straight tournament after playing twice as an individual in the fall.
