Softball Welcomes Alabama State for Midweek Tilt

TROY, Ala. – Following four walk-off wins -- three of which were by the run-rule -- at the Cardinal Clash last weekend, the Troy softball team welcomes Alabama State for its first midweek game of the season.
The Trojans (8-1) head into the game against the Hornets (3-8) firing on all cylinders. The pitching staff surrendered just one extra-base hit and four runs in four games over the weekend, while the offense continues to roll. Through two weekends, Troy's 29 doubles and .413 batting average rank third and fourth in the nation, respectively.

Against Central Arkansas, IU Indy and Radford, the Trojans went 4-0 in a weather-shortened tournament. Troy took down Central Arkansas 8-0, beat IU Indy 11-3 and 8-0 and capped off the weekend with a thrilling 2-1, nine-inning walk-off win over Radford.
Abby Lovell dominated opposing offenses over the weekend, throwing 12 scoreless innings over two starts. The freshman punched out six in a five-inning shutout over Central Arkansas and held Radford scoreless for seven innings in a pitchers' duel. Her 0.37 ERA is the lowest in the Sun Belt Conference.
From the dish, Ella Cunningham made history, becoming the first Trojan since 2015 to log an RBI in eight straight games. She finished the weekend 7-for-11 with seven RBIs, swatting a home run and four doubles.
