TROY, Ala. – Troy takes on week three of the fall season, hosting AUM at the Troy Softball Complex on Friday, Oct. 16, at 4 p.m., before traveling to Athens, Ga., to play Georgia on Sunday, Oct. 18, at noon.
"Both games this week are against high-quality opponents, and we look forward to the challenges that these games will provide," said head coach Eric Newell. "AUM is one of the best NCAA D2 programs in the country, and Georgia is an SEC powerhouse that has a legitimate shot at hosting a regional this year. Playing on the road in Athens on Sunday will give us an incredibly challenging environment, and the more challenges we can create in the fall, the better it will prepare us for the spring season."
AUM enters the matchup as a consistent Division-II contender, with six consecutive regional appearances and its first-ever No. 1 ranking in the national Division-II Coaches Top 25. During the 2026 season, AUM took down multiple ranked opponents, including No. 20 Saint Leo, No. 15 West Florida and No. 20 Montevallo.
The Bulldogs had a successful 2026 postseason run, including an upset of No. 1 Oklahoma at the SEC Tournament and hosting an NCAA Softball Regional in Athens. Overall, the Bulldogs went 41-20 and advanced to the Super Regional with a 3-0 run against Charleston, UNC Greensboro and Clemson.

The Trojans faced Northwest Florida in the midweek matchup. Both teams started slowly offensively, as Ella Cunningham pitched seven scoreless innings. Against her former team, Bre Hughes hit two homers and drove in three runs in the two-game week.
In the first road test of the fall season, Troy visited Florida State last Sunday after a weather delay moved the game back 24 hours. The Trojans struck first, manufacturing a run on walks and an RBI fielder's choice for Mariah Harrison. Harrison also scored and later threw out a runner trying to score from center field.
Cunningham flashed her two-way ability by entering the circle to get the Trojans out of a jam against the Seminoles before blasting a home run in the contest.
