Women’s Basketball Closes Peach State Series Against Georgia State

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball looks to cap off its week against the Peach State programs with a win over Georgia State in Trojan Arena on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m.
The Trojans (15-4, 6-2 SBC) suffered their first loss at home on Thursday night against Georgia State, looking to bounce back with their ninth win in the last 10 games over the Panthers (9-11, 4-4 SBC).
With the time change, Troy Athletics is offering a matinee ticket special, where general admission tickets are $2 and reserved tickets are $5 for all pre-sale online purchases. To celebrate 50 years of women's sports at Troy, there will also be a t-shirt giveaway for the first 250 fans.

Looking to Bounce Back
Troy found itself down 20 to start the fourth quarter and brought the margin within single digits twice before falling to Georgia Southern, 80-69. Despite the loss, the Trojans outrebounded the opposition 48-31 and had 28 second-chance points. Zay Dyer and Fortuna Ngnawo claimed double-doubles. Dyer had 15 points and 12 rebounds to hold her league-high in double-doubles with 11. She also became the 15th active player and ninth in Division I to claim 1,000 rebounds.
Rachel Leggett tied Dyer with a team-high 15 points on 4-of-9 from the field and 7-of-7 at the line for her second straight game leading the Trojans in the scoring column. The South Alabama transfer started the year with an 11-point performance in the season opener and went seven straight games in single-digits. But, since her 10 points against Longwood, Leggett has scored 10-plus points in 10 of her last 11 games to sit tied for fourth for the Trojans in double-digit games.
The Trojans are 8-1 over the last nine matchups with Georgia State. Twenty-two of the first 27 meetings went to Georgia State, but since Troy's 111-90 victory on Feb. 15, 2014, the program has gone 15-5 against Georgia State.
