Women’s Basketball Heads to Strahan Arena to Play Texas State

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Troy finishes its two-game series against Texas State in Strahan Arena, looking for its 12th straight win over the opposition. Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
With this week's slate of Sun Belt Conference games complete, the Trojans (14-3, 5-1 SBC) sit fourth in the league standings, a half-game back of first-place Marshall, Georgia Southern and Arkansas State. Texas State (7-9, 3-3 SBC) is tied with Old Dominion for seventh.

Rolling Through League Play
Troy dominated the second half over ULM in the Fant-Ewing Coliseum for its 15th win over the opposition in the last 16 games, including its seventh win over the last nine on the road. Zay Dyer dominated ULM with 24 points and 13 rebounds, taking sole possession atop the league rankings for double-doubles with nine. Her 24 points also marked her third 20-plus point game this season and 12th in her career.
The win over ULM marked Troy's first of between six and 10 points at 86-80. In Troy's 14 wins, 11 have come by double-figures with eight victories coming by 20-plus point margins. They also shot above 50 percent from the field for the fifth time in 2025-26 and the first time in league play, staying undefeated (5-0) when shooting above that mark. In the Fant-Ewing Coliseum, Troy outrebounded ULM 44-42 to win the battle on the boards in all six league games.
When Troy and Texas State met nine days ago, Troy claimed its 11th straight win in the series. The Trojan defense held the Bobcats to 28.6 percent from the floor and 14.3 percent from behind the arc and outrebounded them 64-35. Dyer (19), Rachel Leggett (11) and Fortuna Ngnawo (11) all ended with 10-plus points as all but one Trojan finished with a bucket.
Scouting Texas State
Texas State has split its games since last playing Troy in Trojan Arena with a win over Louisiana and loss to Southern Miss. Entering Saturday, Texas State ranks in the top half of the SBC in points allowed (third – 62.9), field goal percentage allowed (fifth – 38.3), blocks (fourth – 4.4) and turnovers forced (sixth – 20.1). Kyra Anderson leads the Bobcats through six league games with 13 points and 7.7 rebounds, followed by Saniya Burks at 12 points.
