SAN MARCOS, Texas - An early second-half goal by Texas State was the difference as Troy fell 1-0 to the Bobcats on the road Sunday night.
After a scoreless first half, which saw Troy (5-4-1, 0-2-1 SBC) hold a 9-8 shot advantage, Texas State (5-2-3, 2-0-1 SBC) scored just four minutes into the second half off a left-footed strike by midfielder Victoria Meza.Â
While the two teams finished with 15 shots apiece, the Bobcats recorded 10 shots on goal to the Trojans' one and drew nine corner kicks to Troy's three. Trojan goalie Taylor Richards saved nine of Texas State's 10 shots on target, improving her save percentage on the season to .841, which ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference.
The Trojans' best opportunity to score came in the 61st minute on a breakaway by senior Jiselle Daniels, but Bobcat keeper Brooklyn Escobar made a diving stop on the left side of the goal to hold onto the lead.Â

Quotable - Head Coach Stuart Gore
"Our young team battled so hard tonight against a veteran team in Texas State. People forget we have 19 underclassmen on our team. We created opportunities, we just need to put them on frame."
