Troy Soccer Set For Sun Belt Home Opener with Southern Miss

TROY, Ala. - Following a scoreless draw in the Sun Belt opener at Arkansas State, Troy returns home to the Troy Soccer Complex against Southern Miss on Thursday.
While the Troy offense was unable to capitalize on a season-best 12 corner kicks against the Red Wolves, the defense held on to the shutout behind a career-high eight saves from junior goalkeeper Taylor Richards. It was the third shutout of the season for the Auburn transfer, which is tied for the Sun Belt lead.
Richards was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week for her stellar performance in net, and enters the matchup at Southern Miss as the Sun Belt leader in goals against average (.714) while ranking second in save percentage (.821).
In the field for the Trojans, Jiselle Daniels is tied for the Sun Belt lead with seven goals this season, and led the team with five shots in the draw at Arkansas State, while defenders Grace DeShetler and Brooke Slater have fortified one of the top back lines in the conference, as the Trojans ranks second in the Sun Belt with a 0.88 goals against average.
