Troy Visits Kennesaw State for Non-Conference Matchup

TROY, Ala. – Troy volleyball travels to Georgia to take on the Kennesaw State Owls on Sunday, September 14. The afternoon match will begin at 12 p.m. CT, streaming exclusively on ESPN+.
Troy most recently picked up back-to-back sweeps over a two-match home stretch, with wins over Jackson State and Mercer. The Trojans hit a season-high .338 against Jackson State, while racking up 44 kills at a .250 clip versus Mercer. Senior Amiah Butler has led the way for the Cardinal and White this season with 79 kills and 4.65 kills per set.
Following this weekend's match, Troy will play in two more non-conference matches next weekend in Columbus (Virginia, Ohio State) before opening Sun Belt play at South Alabama on September 26.

Kennesaw State is 4-2 to begin the year, and 2-1 at home. The Owls most recently fell to Michigan State in four sets on Thursday night. Senior Manu Johnsen is hitting .321 with 79 kills, while also adding 52 digs. Kaeley Walz and Kourtney Brown have split setting duties, with 119 and 101 assists, respectively. As a team, Kennesaw State is hitting at a .269 clip and are seventh in the country in aces per set with 2.67. Before the match against Troy on Sunday, The Owls will face off against Appalachian State on Saturday.

- Troy head coach Josh Lauer is in his ninth season at the helm, holding a career record of 122-116. He is the second-longest tenured Division I head coach in program history, trailing only Sonny Kirkpatrick, who guided the Trojans for 11 seasons (2006-16).
- Troy's non-conference slate features five opponents that finished inside the top 100 of the final 2024 NCAA RPI rankings. In Sun Belt play, the Trojans will face four more programs that met that mark, highlighted by Arkansas State, which posted the highest RPI (45) among Troy's 2025 opponents.
- Amiah Butler recorded the first double-double of Troy's season against Mercer on Wednesday night. Butler's dominant performance (18 kills, 15 digs, .368 hitting percentage) marked the fourth double-double of her career. It was the fifth time the senior has recorded double-digit digs in a match.
- The Trojans' last two matches against Kennesaw State have coincidentally also been played on September 14. Last season, Troy took down the Owls in four sets, while Kennesaw State bested Troy on the same day in 2018, 3-2, both in Trojan Arena.
- After missing most of her freshman season due to injury, Olivia Kwiatkowski has wasted no time making her mark for the Cardinal and White this year. Through five matches, Kwiatkowski is second on the team in kills (39) and points (41.0).
