CARLSBAD, Calif. – Troy men's golf tees off at the NCAA Championship for the first time in program history when the Trojans take to the No. 10 tee at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa North Course Friday at 10:20 a.m. (CT) for the opening round of the NCAA Men's Golf Championship.
A three-time National Champion at the NCAA Division II level, Troy's berth in the 2025 NCAA Championship is the first in program history after Tolver Dozier (2015) and Cam Norman (2017) had previously qualified as individuals.
"I think that we can compete with any team in the country," head coach Clay Bounds said. "I've thought that all year. When the guys arrived on campus back in August, we told them this is our year. We've got the guys on the roster to take it pretty far in postseason. Throughout the whole year we've faced Power Four teams, and we've beaten most of them. We're just going to continue that message here in California; we don't care who is in the field; we're going to compete to the best of our abilities and go out and try and win."
Troy finished fourth at the NCAA Urbana Regional last week, which included defeating No. 10 North Carolina, No. 23 Texas Tech and No. 27 Long Beach State. The Trojans enter the NCAA Championship with a pair of team tournament victories and an overall 118-37-2 head-to-head record.
The Trojans were under-par in two of their three Regional rounds and have played 17 of their 36 team rounds under-par this season. Troy's senior trio of Brantley Scott, Jake Springer and Nick Fowlkes have combined for 40 rounds in the red this season, which equals 43 percent of their rounds played.
Dating back to its last three tournaments, Troy has played 66.7 percent (6-of-9) of its team rounds in the red.
