Troy Names Lane Whitsell Assistant Golf Coach

TROY, Ala. – Troy welcomed the addition of Lane Whitsell as the Trojans' assistant golf coach, men's head coach Clay Bounds and women's head coach JD Lamm announced Thursday.
Whitsell joins the Trojans following a season as an assistant coach for the men's and women's teams at Newberry College, in addition to serving as a junior golf assistant at the Country Club of Spartanburg.
"We are excited to add Lane to our coaching staff," Bounds said. "He is an up-and-coming coach who is passionate about his players and this team. Our visions for this program align, and I have no doubt that he will help us achieve our goals. I look forward to seeing the positive impact he has on this program."
Whitsell was an all-conference golfer at Limestone University and was voted team captain his senior season. While competing for the Saints, Whitsell worked in operations at the Country Club of Spartanburg. He was also a professional caddie on the Gpro Tour, Kornferry Tour and All Pro Tour.
"I am extremely excited to have Lane join us this year," Lamm said. "In the short time that he's been here, he has already proven himself to be an extremely hard worker. This work ethic, along with his passion for the game of golf, will prove to be a huge addition for the women's golf team this season."
He earned his degree in administration from Limestone in 2024 and his M.B.A. from North Greenville University in 2025.
