CARROLLTON, Ga. – Troy softball saw the bats explode in two wins over West Georgia on Wednesday, as the Trojans (23-16, 3-6 SBC) hit four total home runs in two wins. Taylor McKinney led Troy past the Wolves (9-25, 1-8 ASUN) with three of those home runs.
The Trojans ran past the Wolves 9-2 and 14-2 in the two road games, ending their four-game losing streak before a home series against Louisiana.
McKinney looked like she was taking batting practice, bashing three three-run home runs on the day. She finished the afternoon 3-for-6 with 10 RBIs. She drew three walks and scored four runs to go along with her homers.
In game two, McKinney's six RBIs were the most a Trojan has recorded in a game since Bailey Taylor drove in six on Feb. 17, 2019, at Saint Joseph's.

In the second inning, Troy broke the game open with a five-run frame. Starting off with a Cassidy Boltz double, the Trojans scored on a McKinnon Howard single, three bases-loaded walks and a bases-loaded hit by pitch to take a 6-0 lead.
Aside from a few singles, the Trojans couldn't get much going in the middle innings.

Annie Orman had a 1-for-2 game, crushing a three-run homer of her own and scoring three runs after she reached on a walk and a hit by pitch. Additionally, Cassidy Boltz turned in a 3-for-3 performance, pushing one run across.
Mya Holt (9-3) did a bit of everything, pitching three innings of one-run ball from the circle and going 1-for-1 with three RBIs from the plate.
The Trojans started off quick yet again in game two, as Orman launched her three-run homer to straightaway center field to give Troy a 3-0 lead early. The moonshot was her second in the last three games – she hit a seventh inning shot against ULM on Sunday.
Troy's fourth double play of the afternoon ended the first inning, as Holt forced the weak ground ball to shortstop.

McKinney moved her career home run total to 34, tying Jade Sinness for fifth place all time.
West Georgia got a run off a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth, but Kate Peters got out of the inning. Peters closed out the game with a scoreless fifth inning.
Quotable: Head Coach Eric Newell
"It was a good day today for sure. We hit it pretty well, defended well for the most part and pitched well. It's nice to get back in the win column. We had our hearts ripped out at ULM and felt like we were three or four plays or pitches away from winning that series. It was psychologically a tough weekend for us, so we came back after that and responded. I was really proud of the team."
