Troy Takes on Texas State in Road Series

TROY, Ala. – Following a midweek game at UAB, the Troy softball team continues its road trip with a journey to San Marcos, Texas, to face the Bobcats (29-13, 11-4 SBC). The Trojans (27-20, 6-9 SBC) come into the series looking to improve their conference record against the top team in the Sun Belt Conference.

Taylor McKinney hit her 12th home run of the season against UAB as she continues to move up the Troy single-season home run leaderboard. She is currently tied for seventh place, sitting just one home run behind Libby Baker's total from last season.

UAB Recap
The Trojans fell 9-8 to UAB on Tuesday night, dropping a tightly contested game. Four lead changes marked the contest, but the Blazers scored four runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good.

McKinney finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Makaley Boswell powered the Trojans from the leadoff spot. Boswell went 3-for-4 – her leadoff home run to start the game was Troy's first of the season, and she tacked on a double and two RBIs to go along with it.

Cassidy Boltz hit a home run as well, sending a rocket to left field in the first inning. It was her first home run since Mar. 12 against Alabama A&M.

Into the Bobcat Den
Texas State enters the series tied with Georgia Southern for first place in the Sun Belt. The Bobcats enter the contest ranked No. 43 in the NCAA RPI, and D1 Softball ranks them as the No. 7 Mid Major team in the nation.

Texas State is led in the circle by three-time Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week Madison Azua. Azua leads the conference with 163 strikeouts and has a 0.87 WHIP so far this season.

At the dish, Aiyana Coleman holds a 1.420 OPS and has hit 13 home runs this year. The infielder leads the team with 43 RBIs.
