Women’s Tennis Welcomes Louisiana and Georgia Southern

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team wraps up its home slate with a pair of matches against Louisiana on Saturday and Georgia Southern on Tuesday. Both matches will get underway at 10 a.m.
Troy (10-7, 5-3 SBC) has put together a strong three-game winning streak and swept ULM last Sunday. The Georgia Southern match on Tuesday started in Statesboro a couple weeks ago but was postponed due to weather.
Prior to Tuesday's match, Troy will honor seniors Gabrielle Leslie and Hagar Ramadan-Amin. Both players have been instrumental in Troy's success this season and in previous years.
Valeriia Avdeeva continues to add to her remarkable season, the has seen her put together a 14-1 singles record during spring play. She has won her last 13 matches. She is 3-0 at No. 3, 10-1 at No. 4 and 1-0 at No. 5. Also joining Avdeeva in double-digit singles wins is Maria Guirguis, who is 11-5 this spring. As a team, Troy is 49-35 in singles play.
In doubles, Troy has been up and down all season. In dual matches the team is 19-18 overall. The partnership of Avdeeva and Guirguis has been the most successful for the Trojans in spring play, going 8-5 at the No. 1 spot.
Louisiana (9-8, 2-6 SBC) enters this Saturday having dropped its last two matches No. 41 Old Dominion and James Madison. Troy is 11-2 all-time against the Ragin' Cajuns. Georgia Southern (10-8, 2-5 SBC) has lost two in a row. The Eagles last victory was a 4-2 win over Georgia State on March 29.
