Trojans Travel for Midweek Doubleheader at West Georgia

TROY, Ala. – The Troy softball team is set to get back on the road for a midweek doubleheader at West Georgia. The Wolves (9-22, 1-8 ASUN) are in their first Division I season and are returning home to face the Trojans (21-16, 3-6 SBC) after a six-game road trip.
 
The Trojans are looking to get back on track after losing three close contests to ULM over the weekend. Troy has hit seven home runs in the last seven games – the Trojans will try to bring that power to Carrollton, Ga. The Wolves have surrendered 24 home runs in 31 games this season.

ULM Recap
On a road trip to ULM, the Trojans were swept by the Warhawks. In the three losses, the Trojans lost by a combined margin of three runs as ULM had two walk-off wins.
 
Makaley Boswell went 5-for-10 over the series, recording her first career three-hit game in game two of the series. The Troy second baseman finished the weekend with four RBIs and smacked her third career home run against the Warhawks.
 
Troy dropped the series opener 2-1 in a pitcher's duel, with the Warhawks hitting a go-ahead two run homer in the sixth inning. Although Caiden Oliva crushed a home run of her own in the seventh, the Trojans couldn't tie the game late.
 
ULM took game two 6-5 on a walk-off single. Boswell went 3-for-4 with a home run in the contest. Despite three first inning runs by the Trojans, the Warhawks were able to claw back into the game and deliver a big hit in the seventh.
 
The Warhawks completed the sweep with an 8-7 win on Sunday, getting a second straight walk-off win. The Trojans got off to a quick start again, and much like game two ULM fought back to take a lead.
 
Staring down a two-run deficit with two outs in the seventh inning, Annie Orman stepped up to the dish as a pinch hitter. She launched a two-run home run to tie the game up and give Troy new life. However, ULM staged a two-out rally and hit three straight singles to win the game.
 
Scouting the Wolves
Although West Georgia has struggled in its first Division I season, the Wolves have had their share of quality wins. Against Sun Belt Conference school Georgia State, the Wolves put together a four-run inning to top the Panthers.
 
Catcher Blaire Bizette has led West Georgia from the dish, crushing four home runs and posting a 1.056 OPS. Sophomore utility player Makayla Register has sent five balls over the fence this season.
 
On the pitching side of things, West Georgia has struggled. The Wolves have a team WHIP of nearly two. Calli Hardison leads the team with a 4.09 ERA.
