A Minute to Remember
Troy swept the UMass Minutewomen in four games over the weekend with lockdown pitching, including a Friday no-hitter from Alyssa Faircloth. She threw Troy's first seven-inning no-hitter since Leanna Johnson on Apr. 24, 2022, in a 5-0 win.
Kayden Dunn also had a stellar weekend, socking three home runs – one on Friday's doubleheader and two on Saturday's. She hit the walk-off homer in a 15-7 run-rule win, capping off a 12-run inning after the Trojans stared down a four-run deficit.
Behind a complete game shutout from Mya Holt, Troy won the first game of the series 7-0. A five-run sixth inning sparked by Dunn's first long ball boosted the Trojans to the series-opening win.
Faircloth continued the momentum from the first game, shutting down the Minutewomen with her no-no. She struck out nine batters in the 5-0 win, recording her third straight start with nine strikeouts.
On Saturday, the teams squared off for yet another doubleheader. Savannah Money and Esmee Ames combined for the shutout victory, while a balanced offensive attack led by Natalie Turner's two doubles handed Troy a 7-0 win.
The last game of the series was looking bleak, as UMass held a 7-3 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning. However, a 12-run outburst in the inning – including three home runs – gave Troy a 15-7 run-rule win. Taylor McKinney crushed Troy's first grand slam of the season to center field, and Dunn walked it off with her third homer of the series.
