Troy Set for Road Test at Furman

TROY, Ala. - Troy men's basketball is back on the road for its second game of the new season Friday night, taking on Furman inside Timmons Arena at 6 p.m.
Troy kicked off its 2025-26 season earlier this week on Monday night against Kent State in Ohio. The Trojans led by double-digits for the majority of the game and used seven points from Cooper Campbell to lead Troy to an overtime win. Furman dropped its season opener to High Point on Monday, 71-97.
Friday marks the first-ever meeting between the two schools. Troy is 36-30 all-time against Southern Conference teams.

Overtime in Ohio
Troy opened its season on Monday with a 103-97 overtime win at Kent State, marking the program's sixth straight season-opening victory. Theo Seng and Victor Valdes led the way with 24 and 23 points, respectively, as five Trojans finished in double figures. Cooper Campbell finished with 19, including the game-tying layup at the end of regulation and seven key points in overtime.
The Trojans led for the majority of regulation and as much as 16 during the first half. Kent State stormed back towards the end, however, taking its first lead with just one minute left. Cooper Campbell tied the game with an end-to-end layup with one second left on the clock to send the game to an extra period – Troy's first overtime game since March 1, 2024, a loss to Texas State. Campbell stayed hot in overtime, scoring seven points in the extra period and sending Troy home winners.
Scouting Furman
Furman is coming off a loss to open its season on Monday, falling to High Point 97-71 at the Field of 68 Opening Day Marathon on Monday. The Paladins turned the ball over 22 times and shot 43.9% from the field. F Charles Johnson led Furman with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while three others scored in double figures. Cooper Bowser and Tom House were named to the Preseason All-Southern Conference Team, while Furman received five first place votes in the Preseason Coaches' Poll and was selected to finish second.
Road Warriors
The Trojans will be no strangers to the road by the end of the calendar year, playing just three home non-conference games and five home games overall in 2025. The road slate is highlighted by a week-long trip to California, where Troy will play four games over the course of seven days. The Trojans are one of four Sun Belt teams with only three non-conference home games during the remainder of the calendar year, joining Coastal Carolina, Old Dominion, and Southern Miss.

Troy returns to Trojan Arena next Tuesday, Nov. 11, for its home opener against Pensacola Christian. The first 300 students in attendance will receive a Troy basketball t-shirt as part of the Military Appreciation Game. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m., with the game streaming on ESPN+ and airing on the Troy Sports Radio Network.

- Scott Cross enters his seventh season at the helm of the Trojans, amassing a 104-87 record during his time at Troy. Over the last four seasons, Troy has won 20-plus games each year and finished 23-11 last season.

The last time the Trojans opened with two true road games was the 2001-02 season, when the Cardinal and White played at Kansas State and Marshall.
- Troy shot 46.2% from three on Monday night against Kent State on 26 attempts. It was the the Trojans' highest three-point percentage since Dec. 1 of last season, when Troy made 47.1% of its shots from deep against Eastern Kentucky.
- The Trojans debuted a new look on Monday night, as the team returns just under 40 percent of their scoring from last year's Sun Belt Championship team. Leading the returning group is junior forward Thomas Dowd, who was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team in October. Dowd started all but one game last season and will be called upon to take on an even larger role following the departures of the Trojans' two leading scorers from the 2024-25 squad — Tayton Conerway and Myles Rigsby.
- Other returning Trojans who made at least one start last season include Cooper Campbell (3), Victor Valdes (3), Kerrington Kiel (2), and Theo Seng (1). Jerrell Bellamy did not record a start, but appeared in 32 games. Campbell returns after an impressive freshman campaign, while Valdes, Kiel, Seng, and Bellamy all enter their third season in the Cardinal and White. This veteran core will be relied on to take a significant step forward, as Troy looks to replace major production from last year's roster. Cobi Campbell, Cooper's older brother, redshirted last season due to injury and started in Monday's opener.
