Troy Duo Qualifies for ITA Sectional Championships

TROY, Ala. – After a strong run at the ITA Southern Regional in October, the doubles pairing of Luciano Alcocer and Yeray Andres Pastor qualified for the ITA Sectional Championships in Athens, Ga., this week. The duo has a chance to earn an NCAA Championship bid with another run.
"We're excited to go to sectionals, and it'll be a very competitive event," said head coach Rolando Vargas. "It's a testament to Yeray and Luciano for their hard work and education, and it's a great opportunity to be at one of the best tennis venues."
The Trojans look to earn an NCAA Championship bid at the event – out of the 16 doubles teams, the top three will qualify. The Trojans will start the sectionals against the No. 4 seeded team of Eli Stephenson and Jack Loutit, who play for Kentucky.

Dynamic Duo
Alcocer and Andres Pastor qualified for the ITA Sectionals following a strong fall. After competing at the ITA All-American Championships to start the fall, the duo made a run at the Auburn Battle on the Plains.
In the mini-dual Auburn tournament, the pair made a run to the semifinals of their draw with wins over North Alabama and Mercer.
The Trojans started to gain more momentum at the ITA Southern Regional, where they were the only non-SEC team represented in the doubles semifinals. Alcocer and Andres Pastor took down the No. 1 overall seed from Auburn during their run, also beating duos from UAB and Louisiana.
