TROY, Ala. – Louis Boilevin and Henrique de Brito were selected as the Sun Belt Conference representatives for doubles at the ITA Conference Masters Championship in Rome, Ga., from Thursday, Nov. 5 to Sunday, Nov. 8.
"I'm super excited to go to this postseason event," head coach Rolando Vargas said. "Nobody gets to choose to go to something like this. You have to earn it, and these players did that. And I know we're very grateful for that. Our guys get to go and play against some of the top teams in the nation. We get a chance to go there and fight for every point. We've shown the capability to go out and beat anyone we face. It's a true honor to represent the Sun Belt. It shows just how well we're representing Troy with the masters and the sectionals. This next week will be huge for us as we keep improving, and now we get to compete on the national stage. Vamos Trojans."
Over the four-day tournament, Boilevin and de Brito will look to be one of the final two teams remaining in doubles to automatically qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship. Each NCAA AQ-eligible, Division I conference will designate one singles player and one doubles team from each gender to participate in the event.
The pair of Boilevin/de Brito combined for a 5-2 record through the fall season. At the ITA Southern Regional, they beat Southern Miss and Louisiana before falling in the semifinals to Mississippi State. They've also defeated pairs from Georgia State, Georgia College and Georgia Southern.
