Volleyball Set to Host Arkansas State

TROY, Ala. – Troy volleyball welcomes the Arkansas State Red Wolves to Trojan Arena this week for a pair of Sun Belt matches. Both Thursday's and Friday's contests are set for 6 p.m., with Troy honoring former Trojans on Friday night as part of Letterwinner's Day.
Troy returns to Trojan Arena after facing Louisiana last week. The Trojans split the two-match series with the Ragin' Cajuns, winning in four sets on Thursday night before being swept the following evening. Amiah Butler had a career night in the opener, finishing with 29 kills while hitting an impressive .434.
Arkansas State enters the week fresh off two wins over Texas State in Jonesboro. The Red Wolves, winners of four straight, are 6-2 in Sun Belt play and 13-6 overall. During its four-match streak, Arkansas State has dropped just two sets and recorded three straight-set victories.

A Career Night
Amiah Butler set a new career high with 29 kills on Oct. 16 at Louisiana. The 29 kills tied a program record for most kills in a four-set match. Butler accomplished the feat in an efficient manner - hitting an impressive .434 during the match. The senior added 10 digs to give Butler her fourth double-double of the season.

Arkansas State is currently 13-6 on the season, including a 6-2 mark in Sun Belt play. The Red Wolves have employed a balanced attack, with three players currently over 150 kills - Kaitlin Whitlock (211), Deadrianna Cail (190), and Devyn Lewis (180). Erin Madigan is the team's primary setter, accumulating 478 assists this year. On the defensive side, Arkansas State has done well in limiting its opponents' attack, ranking seventh in the country in opponent hitting percentage at .146.

• Troy ranks second in the Sun Belt and 74th overall in aces per set with 1.68. It has been a collective effort behind the service line for the Trojans, with four individuals currently at 15 or more aces on the season. Sydney Austin leads the team with 20, while Kalina Calvillo, Sara Bates, and Madison Marx all have 15.
• Amiah Butler has recorded double-digit kills in all 16 matches this season, surpassing 20 kills four times. She is currently on pace to finish the year with 409 kills, which would be a career high. Butler's 4.55 kills-per-set average would not only mark a personal best but also be good for the third-highest single-season mark in Troy history.
• Butler's 29 kills against Louisiana are tied for the second most in the Sun Belt this season and are the most in a four-set match. She also holds the fourth-highest total in a five-set match with 24, set on Aug. 31 at Samford.
• Head coach Josh Lauer is in his ninth season at the helm, holding a career record of 124-125. He is the second-longest tenured Division I head coach in Troy program history, trailing only Sonny Kirkpatrick, who guided the Trojans for 11 seasons (2006-16).
