TROY, Ala. – Troy men's tennis saw its three-match winning streak come to an end Saturday afternoon with a 4-2 loss at No. 70 Georgia Southern in Sun Belt Conference action in a matchup between two of the top teams in the league.

Troy (18-5, 3-3 SBC) handed the Eagles (11-7, 5-0 SBC) a pair of losses last year, including knocking Georgia Southern out of the Sun Belt Tournament in the quarterfinals.

The Eagles won the all-important doubles point, just the second time Troy has dropped it in the last 12 matches to grab a 1-0 lead and, in the process handed the duo of Mario Martinez Serrano and Luciano Alcocer their first loss (12-1) as a doubles team this year.

The Eagles stretched their lead to 3-0 with wins on courts two and three before Alcocer improved to 10-3 this spring with a win on court six and Benjamin Ambrosio won his second straight match on court five to pull Troy within 3-2. However, Dimitris Paliouras outlasted Martinez on court one, just his second loss of the year, to clinch the match for the Eagles.

Troy wraps up the road portion of its schedule on Sunday with a match at Georgia State.
