TROY, Ala. – A pair of midweek games splits Troy on the road (Joe Lee Griffin Field) and at Riddle-Pace Field to face 2023 NCAA Regional team Samford and Jacksonville State, respectively.

Troy headed up the mountains of Boone, N.C., and handled business to remain undefeated in regular season series against Appalachian State, winning 2-1 with pure domination in games one and three.
The 2-1 weekend against App State shot the Trojans (25-12, 9-6 SBC) up the standings to sit in a five-way tie for second in the Sun Belt Conference with Coastal Carolina, Southern Miss, Georgia Southern and Georgia State.
Saturday saw a tale of two games as Luke Lyon (5-1) led Troy's domination in game one with a 17-2 run-rule win through eight innings before Jackson Steensma (4-1) flipped it for App State on an 11-1 run-rule through seven in game two. Troy exploded offensively in game one's third, fifth and eighth inning, scoring 16-of-17 runs through the three and seven alone in the eighth. Brooks Bryan shined Saturday with two home runs through both games, going 4-for-6 in game one with two runs and five RBIs.
Game three peaked the series as App State shot out with a 5-1 advantage through the first two innings. Peyton Watts began Troy's home run-filled day by sending a solo shot in the third, 5-2. After a pair of runs cut the deficit to one, 5-4, Troy hit back-to-back-to-back home runs for the first time in nine years (April 22, 2015 – Kennesaw State) via Kyle Mock, Aidan Gilroy and Ben Arnett to take a 7-5 lead. Mock wasn't done with his second homer of the day in the eighth to help finish a 13-5 series-clinching victory and set a season-high with five sent over the wall.
Bryan and Mock finished the weekend at .500-plus in batting average with .571 and .500, respectively. No. 17 led the Trojans with eight hits, seven RBIs and 14 total bases, while Mock led with four runs – both had a pair of home runs. Overall, the Trojans' bats had plenty of action with 34 hits through 99 at-bats for 31 runs, three doubles, eight homers, 27 RBIs and 61 total bases.
After making it to the NCAA Regional in Auburn, Samford's (24-11, 8-1 SOCON) continued its momentum despite a 4-4 start, going 20-7 since with wins over Purdue, No. 10 Kentucky and a sweep over Citadel. The Bulldogs are home run machines, leading the SOCON in total home runs (55) and homers per game (1.57) – ranked 41st and 43rd, respectively, in the nation.
Losers of six straight against the Trojans, including an 18-10 loss earlier this month on April 3, the Gamecocks (12-23, 3-9 C-USA) look to bounce back after losing the series-clinching game to Liberty, 12-6. Jacksonville State continues to capitalize on extra opportunities through 2024 with the 40th-ranked team in the country for stolen bases at 60.

• Troy set an NCAA record against Jacksonville State, forcing the opposition to bring out 15 different pitchers, breaking a nearly 26-year record of 13 set in the Butler / Indiana Southeast game on May 5, 1998.
• It's been a tale of two months for the Trojans ... in February (10 games), Troy hit .353 with 32 doubles and 19 home runs and slugged .657 with a .496 on-base percentage; in March (19 games), Troy his .256 with 29 doubles, 23 home runs, slugged .419 and reached base at a .375 clip.
