Men’s Tennis Falls to Louisiana, 4-3

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis team suffered its first home loss of the season on Saturday, falling to Louisiana 4-3 at the Lunsford Tennis Complex in a match that lasted over four hours.
Troy (15-4, 1-2 SBC) came out of the gates strong, picking up the doubles point in impressive fashion. Mario Martinez Serrano and Luciano Alocer dominated in the No. 3 doubles spot with a 6-2 win. Yeray Andres Pastor and Carles Anton followed with a 6-2 win of their own in the No. 2 spot to give Troy the early 1-0 advantage. The top doubles match went unfinished with Louisiana leading 5-2.
For the first time this season, Troy lost a match in which they won the doubles point. They were 15-0 going into Saturday when getting the first point.
In singles, Louisiana responded with a two-set win on court five to level the score at one. No. 87-ranked Martinez continued his impressive season as he picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win on court one to move to 18-1 on the season and put the Trojans back ahead 2-1.
Louisiana responded with wins on court four and six to jump ahead 3-2 and get within one point of clinching the team victory. However, the Trojans weren't going down without a fight, as Anton had a come-from-behind victory in three sets on court two to make it a 3-3 match.
The Ragin' Cajuns sealed the deal on court two with a 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 7-5 win to defeat Troy.
The Trojans are back in action on Sunday for Senior Day against Southern Miss. The first serve is set for 1 p.m.
