Troy Wraps Up First Day of Sun Belt Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala – Troy track and field wrapped up day one of the Sun Belt Indoor Championship Monday evening at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Kady Schwietz was the day's biggest winner, as she finished with a new school record in the pentathlon. Schwietz finished with 3,705 points, placing fourth across the Sun Belt. Alejandra Gutierrez Fuente followed Schwietz's lead and finished eighth in the pentathlon with a score of 3,459.
Biniosa Ezukuse finished with a new personal best in the weight throw, with a throw of 18.04 meters. She finished seventh in the event. Leah Kennedy, Brooke Burns and Abby Grosinske rounded out the top 20 with throws of 16.52 meters, 16.48 meters and 16.27 meters
On the track, Cadi Rowe finished seventh in the women's 5,000 meters with a time of 17:09.58. With the finish, Rowe set a new school record and new personal best in the event.
In the women's 60 meters, Hope Igbinoghene and Catherine Forbes set new personal records with times of 7.67 and 7.71, respectively.
