Â
TROY, Ala. – Coming off a series victory to open the season, the Troy baseball team hits the road on Tuesday for a mid-week tilt at Florida A&M. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. from Moore-Kittles Field.Â
Â
The Trojans (3-1) put on an offensive display during the opening weekend, scoring 50 runs in 30 offensive innings of work. There were plenty of offensive stars to choose from for Skylar Meade's club, led by Kole Myers (.571), Will Butcher (.563) and Tremayne Cobb Jr. (.500), as the Trojans hit .376 as a team with a 1.208 OPS.
Â
Butcher drove in 15 runs during the opening weekend, the most in the country, while Myers scored a nation-leading 11 runs in addition to drawing seven walks, the second-most nationally over the opening weekend of play.
Â
Troy leads the nation with 50 hits and 17 doubles while checking in ninth with eight home runs. Myers hit three home runs in game three of the series against SIU-Edwardsville and is fourth nationally in the category.
Â
Garrett Gainous is scheduled to make the start on the mound for the Trojans in what is a game where a handful of Troy pitchers are expected to make appearances. The start is significant for Gainous, the former Sun Belt Freshman of the Year and Freshman All-American, as it's his first appearance since the 2022 season after he missed all of 2023 with injury.
Â
Florida A&M (2-1) opened its season winning two-of-three from Eastern Illinois, including a 4-0 shutout in game two of the series.
