Troy Hosts Eastern Kentucky to Conclude Three-Game Homestand

TROY, Ala. – Following a tough loss on Friday afternoon, the Troy men's basketball team returns to the hardwood on Sunday as it hosts Eastern Kentucky to close out its three-game homestand that spanned the Thanksgiving week.
Troy (4-3) struggled to slow down the Merrimack offense on Friday afternoon, and did not shoot the ball well as it picked up just its third home loss since the start of last season. On the other side, Eastern Kentucky (4-3) is coming off a loss to Louisiana Tech on Wednesday.

The Trojans are looking to right the ship after a 1-1 showing at the Trojan Turkey Tipoff. Troy opened its multi-team event on Monday with a win over UTSA but couldn't slow down a Merrimack team that shot over 50 percent from the field and 3-point range.
Myles Rigsby continues to be Troy's leading scorer this season with 13.1 points per game. He has scored 10-plus points in every single game this season and is the only Troy player to achieve that mark. On Friday, Rigsby had a team-best 15 points. Through two games this week, the sophomore is averaging 16.0 points on 10-18 shooting.
Starting shooting guard Tayton Conerway is starting to find his offensive footing after a good week on the court. In Monday's win, Conerway had 15 points and followed that with 13 on Friday. He was 5-8 from the field on Friday. Conerway has also impressed on defense, as he leads the team with 21 steals. That total leads the Sun Belt and is eighth in the country.
Troy is 12th in the country – first in the SBC – in steals per game with 10.7. The Trojans are also excelling in turnovers forced per game at 15.43, a mark that also leads the conference and is 49th nationally.
Scouting Eastern Kentucky
The Trojans and Colonels met in a home-and-home series last season, with EKU picking up a 77-76 win at home on Nov. 27, 2023, and Troy winning 88-81 win on Dec. 21, 2023, in Trojan Arena.
EKU won the regular season ASUN title last year and returns five players from that squad to the 2024-25 team. Devontae Blanton leads the Colonels in scoring at 17.4 points per game.

• Scott Cross is in his sixth season at the helm for Troy men's basketball, and his 18th as a Division I men's basketball head coach. • Troy wrapped up the Trojan Turkey Tipoff on Friday with a 72-68 loss to Merrimack, after opening the MTE with a win over UTSA. The Trojans finished the event with a 1-1 record.
