Women’s Tennis Opens Fall Schedule with Samford Fall Invitational

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's tennis gears up for the beginning of its fall tournament schedule with the Samford Fall Invitational, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 4 to Sunday, Oct. 6.
"It's a great tournament to start our fall season," head coach Rawia Elsisi said. "We get to play lots of quality matches throughout the weekend. The girls have been working hard the past few months, and they are excited and ready to start competition."
The Trojans will partner with Mississippi State's two players to combine for a team of eight to compete in the round-robin style tournament. Friday sees Troy open with singles competition at 1 p.m. against Samford before they pair up for doubles competition at 10 a.m., followed by singles at 11 a.m. against Jacksonville State on Saturday. Sunday wraps up competition with doubles against Samford (10 a.m.) before singles at 11 a.m. against Central Arkansas and UAB.

2023-24 Recap
The 2023-24 season saw the program finish at 16-7, 9-2 SBC to end as the seventh-ranked team in the ITA Southern Regional rankings and the No. 3 seed for the SBC Tournament. The program's nine conference wins also marked the most for women's tennis in program history. Troy grabbed an opening-round victory over No. 6 seeded Georgia Southern (4-2) before falling in the semifinals against No. 7 App State, 4-1.
Hagar Ramadan-Amin and Leena Metwally paired together for an 8-4 record, including a perfect 7-0 in SBC play to earn All-SBC Second Team for doubles. The two dominated court three with an 8-1 record in dual competition. Metwally's first year with the Trojans saw her top the charts with a 17-11 record in doubles and 21-9 in singles. She trailed only Gabrielle Leslie in singles competition, who led the team with a 28-5 record. Leslie controlled courts 4-6 with a 1-0, 1-0 and 18-1 record in dual competition, respectively.
