TROY, Ala. — Coming off a tough two-game road trip, the Troy men's basketball team answered back in dominant fashion on Wednesday night as they took down Texas State 78-65 in Trojan Arena.
Troy (12-8, 6-2 SBC) was led by star freshman forward Myles Rigsby, who put together an impressive performance on both ends of the court. Rigsby scored a game-high 20 points, which also tied his career-high (20 at Coastal Carolina), and snagged nine rebounds.
Texas State (7-13, 1-7 SBC) and Troy traded buckets for much of the first half, and the Bobcats took their largest lead of the game – four points – with 8:53 left in the first half. The Trojans struggled to make shots in the first 10 minutes of the game but caught fire with 7:29 left in the half after Rigsby made a bucket in the paint.
The Trojans outscored the Bobcats 21-12 over the final eight of the half to take a 39-34 lead into the break.
Texas State came out firing in the final 20 minutes and took a 52-50 lead with 12:36 remaining before the Trojan offense ripped off a 16-0 run over the course of nearly six minutes to go ahead 66-52.
Troy had one of its best shooting games of the season, as they knocked down 54.2 percent of shots and 41.2 percent of its three-point attempts. Troy's 54.2 percent shooting clip is its second-best of the season. The Trojans shot 54.8 percent from the field against Reinhardt.

Big Time Bounce Back
After a pair of tough road losses, the Trojans answered back in a massive way on Wednesday night. They got back to what has been a recipe for success for them all season.
Troy won the rebounding battle 29-28 and generated 11 steals and 15 turnovers. Troy now has double-figure steals in six of the last seven games. Rigsby had a game-high three steals.
Troy capitalized on the turnovers, scoring 24 points off them compared to Texas State's 10 points off turnovers.
Texas State shots just 41.5 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from 3-point range. Dylan Dawson had a team-high 12 points.
The Trojans once against got great production from its bench. Troy had 40 points off the bench, which included Eugene's 17 points. Marcus Rigsby Jr. started in place of Eugene – who still ended up playing over 25 minutes.
Thoughts from Coach
Head coach Scott Cross gave his thoughts following the game:
"Our guys were really active defensively. We switched to a hybrid of zone and man and our guys did a really good job executing it… It was a collective effort. Our guys played really well and we played great team defense. Offensively, we were very efficient. Myles Rigsby started us off and carried us in the first half. In the second half, Spudd and Tayton got going. Anytime you can shoot 54 percent, you're going to have a great opportunity to win the game."
Cross also gave his thoughts on taking part in the "Suits and Sneakers" initiative to raise awareness for the fight against cancer:
"It's just a small thing we can do to show that we support [Coaches vs. Cancer]. It's the most awful and deadly disease ever known. I lost my mom to cancer, and so it's very very personal for me. It's something that we need to find a cure for, and it's going to take everybody."
