TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's soccer team fell to Samford 1-0 on Thursday night at the Troy Soccer Complex.

The only goal of the game came in the 85th minute by Ella Simpson who scored off a corner kick by Alyssa Conarton.
Winning Streak Snapped

For much of the 90 minutes, Troy was in control of the game as they held possession of the ball for 53 percent of the night.
It was a chippy affair, with the No. 8 ranked team in the Southeast Region by the United Soccer Coaches Samford picking up three yellow cards and 17 fouls. Riley Rojhan picked up a yellow card for the Trojans, who committed four fouls.
Head Coach Stuart Gore Gives His Thoughts
"I thought it was a gritty performance…we stopped them from doing what they wanted to do…It's about being irritated and annoyed. Not sad. Now we get to take it out on someone else."
Heading to the Sunshine State
The Trojans wrap up non-conference play on Sunday, Sept. 10 as they travel to Jacksonville, Fla., to take on North Florida at 12 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and live stats will be available on TroyTrojans.com.
