Troy Soccer Heads to Texas for Sunday Matinee

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's soccer team heads to San Marcos, Texas to face off against Texas State in a Sun Belt showdown at the Bobcat Soccer Complex on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 12 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and live stats will be available on TroyTrojans.com.
Troy (5-5-0, 0-2-0 SBC) is still searching for its first conference win of the season and is currently in the midst of a four-match losing streak, with all losses coming by one goal.
Texas State (6-3-1, 1-0-1 SBC) is in a three-way tie atop the Sun Belt West Division standings with four points (South Alabama and Southern Miss).
Looking to Turn the Tide
The Trojans had a strong statistical showing against Southern Miss on Thursday night but struggled to find the back of the net. The Trojans on the season have generated 105 shots, compared to opponents 106 shots. They've also outshot opponents 54-41 in the first halves.
Midfielder Gabrielle Chartier leads the Trojans in goals with four. She also leads in points with nine – four goals and one assist.
Troy goalkeepers have been tested much more in the second half than the first half this season, making 24 saves in the final 45 minutes compared to eight in the first half.
Troy has struggled on the road this season going 1-3-0. Its one win came against ASUN conference favorites Lipscomb on opening night.
Scouting the Bobcats
Texas State is off to a strong start this season and is coming off a 0-0 draw against Arkansas State on Thursday. The Bobcats opened conference play with a 3-0 win over Louisiana last Sunday.
Zoe Junior leads the way for Texas State with three goals and two assists for eight points. Mady Soumare and Halle Garcia also have three goals each.
