Troy Soccer Drops Conference Opener to App State, 1-0

BOONE, N.C. – The Troy women's soccer team fell to App State 1-0 in its Sun Belt Conference opener on Sunday afternoon at the Appalachian Soccer Stadium.

Troy (5-4, 0-1 SBC) struggled to generate much on the offensive end of things, registering just five shots and only one shot on goal – which came courtesy of Jordan Stack. Hallie Field led the Trojans in shots with two. Troy had a stronger second half offensively, outshooting App State 4-3.

App State (4-3-1, 1-0 SBC) scored the lone goal of the match in the 50^th minute. Izzi Wood scored off of a corner from Shannon Studer for her fourth goal of the year.

Troy goalkeeper Stephenie Pereff made one save in a little over 82 minutes of action before freshman goalkeeper Rubie Kelley played the last 7:49 of the game.

Head coach Stuart Gore gave his thoughts following the match:

"We battled hard in the second half, but just could not get anything going. We now have to regroup and refocus for Thursday's game against Southern Miss."
