TROY, Ala. – Troy cross country looks to continue its strong start to the 2023 season from the JSU Foothills Invitational by following up with another strong performance at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala.
Set at the John Hunt Cross Country Park on Friday morning, the men's team kicks off the day against 41 organizations at 7:30 a.m. for the 8k, followed by the women's team at 8:30 a.m. for the 5k.

The Trojans return to John Hunt Cross Country Park after last year's North Alabama Showcase, where the men placed 27th out of 38 teams in the 8k, and the women placed 26th out of 41 teams in the 5k.
Makenna Calbert is the highest-placing returner from last year's meet, finishing in 190th for the women at 19:17.52. Fellow returners Cadi Rowe (19:19.69), Caroline Montini (20:42.41) and Aisley McMeen (21:11.94) followed her in 196th, 290th and 303rd, respectively.
This season, the Trojans have revamped their roster with 12 freshmen who've already made an impact. In the JSU Foothills Invitational, Troy placed three freshmen, Keith Warner (12th), Sam Megginson (34th) and Caden Blackman (45th), in the top 50 on the men's side.
Freshman Lucy Turley led the way for the women to finish fourth with an 18th place finish individually, timed at 14:57.90. Both sides seek to use their youth to top the results from 2022.
