TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's soccer team makes its home debut under new head coach Stuart Gore on Thursday at 7 p.m. when they take on Alabama A&M at the Troy Soccer Complex. Live stats can be found on TroyTrojans.com and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Troy (3-1-0, nine points) is off to its best start since 2016 (nine points). The Trojans have already matched last year's win total at three.
Alabama A&M (0-2-0) is coming off losses to Jacksonville State and South Florida.
Just Keep Winning
The Trojans look for their third straight win on Thursday, which hasn't happened since the 2019 season.
The back-to-back wins for Troy this past week were fueled by timely scoring and impressive defense. Goalkeeper Rubie Kelley has posted back-to-back clean sheets, making nine saves over that time.
Last Thursday against Kennesaw State, the offense put together an impressive showing, scoring three goals off the feet of Carley White, Gabrielle Chartier and Evie Anderson. The team registered nine shots on goal and 12 corner kicks.
On Sunday against Queens of Charlotte, Troy only had one goal find the back of the net – Hallie Field in the 32nd minute – but registered 12 shots and a season-high 18 corners.
Troy is sixth in the country in overall corners with 39 through four games, which comes out to 9.75 per game. Last year, Gore's Northwestern State led the nation in corner kicks per game at 9.16, for a total of 174.
Apply Pressure
Through two games this season, Alabama A&M has allowed 10 goals, five in each game. Their opponents have also generated 52 total shots with 24 of those being on net.
The Bulldogs have scored one goal this year, with Isabelle Bernier getting credit for it.
Despite being in-state opponents, the Bulldogs and Trojans have only played each other three times, with Troy leading the series 2-1. The most recent matchup came in August of 2022, with Alabama A&M winning 1-0.
Sunday Night Showdown
Originally scheduled for 1 p.m., Sunday's game against Alabama State at the Troy Soccer Complex has been moved to 6 p.m. due to heat. Live stats will be available on TroyTrojans.com, and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
