TROY, Ala. – After splitting the opening weekend of conference play, Troy hits the road for a matchup at Louisiana on Saturday at the Cajun Tennis Courts in Lafayette. Troy's Sunday matchup at Southern Miss has been postponed due to rain.
Troy (13-3, 1-1 SBC) knocked off James Madison in its Sun Belt opener before falling to No. 75 Old Dominion in a four-hour thriller on Sunday. Freshman Mario Martinez Serrano won both his matches on court one to improve to 14-2 on the spring, while Vito Llinares was perfect in his two matches last weekend on court six, improving to 10-3 on the year.
The difference for Troy in the two matches came in doubles, where the Trojans took the doubles point against James Madison and lost the point to ODU. Troy is 11-5 this season when it comes to the doubles point but have dropped the critical point in all three of its losses this year.
Carles Anton (11-3) and Yeray Andres Pastor (11-4) join Llinares (10-3) and Martinez (14-2) in double-digits for victories. Troy is playing at a 70.8 clip as a team in singles and 56.1 in doubles this spring.
Louisiana (8-6, 1-0) knocked off Coastal Carolina, 6-1, last weekend to open Sun Belt play.
