Trojans Open Homestand by Welcoming Georgia Southern

TROY, Ala. – Fresh off a 1-1 split in the opening weekend of Sun Belt Conference play, Troy opens its six-match homestand with Georgia Southern on Saturday at noon in the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
The Trojans (8-3, 1-1 SBC) are still off to their best start in recorded history as they look to avoid their first losing streak at home since 2019 – lost to Mercer and Southern Miss.

Split Start
Troy recovered big after being swept 7-0 in the conference opener to South Alabama with a clutch 4-3 win over Southern Miss in the programs' first-ever SBC meeting.
The Trojans found themselves down early, 2-0, through doubles and a loss on court four by Olivia Elliott. However, the Trojans battled back to claim four straight points via Maria Guirguis, Valeriia Avdeeva, Hagar Amin and Kristina Kukaras to come back and win the match, 4-3.
Soar Eagles Soar
After losing their first match to Clemson, 7-0, the Soaring Eagles (9-3, 0-1 SBC) rattled off seven straight wins to end non-conference play at 9-2. In their conference opener to Coastal Carolina, the Soaring Eagles led 3-2 before Ana Tsitavets and Lindsay Tulenko lost in the third set on courts two and three to fall 4-3.
In singles, Nanaka Kijima stands above her teammates with a 10-1 record on courts four and five, losing only to Clemson in the season opener. Behind her is Silvia Martinez, who rides a seven-match win streak into Saturday. As a unit, GSU struggles to open matches, totaling a 17-17 record in doubles.
