Trojans Tame the Tigers

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Without dropping a single set, Troy dominates Tennessee State by sweeping the competition, 7-0, in the TSU Tennis Complex Sunday morning.
The hot start continues as the Trojans start 2-0 for the first time in head coach Rawia Elsisi's career and the first time since 2008-09.
Doubles competition went smoothly, with each pair grabbing the 6-2 victory in their perspective matches to take the early lead, 1-0, over the Tigers (0-5).
Maria Guirguis shined among the success in her singles match after not allowing a single set to go in the opposition's favor. Guirguis did quick work, sweeping the sets, 6-0, 6-0 for the 2-0 advantage.
Fellow freshman Valeriia Avdeeva followed up Guirguis to put Troy one point from victory, 3-0. Avdeeva sealed the first set 6-4 before matching the score in the second for the win.
For the second straight weekend, Olivia Elliott sealed the match, winning both her sets, 6-4, to continue her perfect start to the spring season, 4-0.
Kristina Kukaras, Hagar Amin and Franziska Ahrend followed suit with wins in their singles match as the Trojan continued the Tigers' 21-point scoring drought.
