Troy Welcomes Nicholls to Lunsford

TROY, Ala. – Off to its first 2-0 start since the 2008-09 season, Troy women's tennis prepares for Sunday at 11 a.m. against Nicholls in the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
The Trojans (2-0) look for their first 3-0 start in recorded history, which dates back to 2006. For the Colonels (3-1), the team rides a three-match win streak, including a win over fellow Sun Belt member ULM, 4-3.

Sunday's match was never in question as the Trojans dominated Tennessee State 7-0, highlighted by all but one Trojan remaining undefeated in dual singles play through the first two weeks.
Doubles competition got Troy off to a hot start, 1-0, with all the pairs winning their respective matches 6-2. Maria Guirguis shined to give Troy the 2-0 lead when she didn't give up a set en route to a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Next, Valeriia Avdeeva (6-4, 6-4) put Troy one point from victory before Olivia Elliott sealed the deal, 6-4, 6-4.
Scouting the Colonels
The Colonels enter Sunday's match on a three-match win streak after defeating Alcorn 6-1. Mikaela Konstantinov was the only Colonel to fall in the victory, losing 7-5 in both sets.
Carla Bouygues is the standout for Nicholls, with a 4-0 record in singles play – Constanza Cruz follows her at 3-1. Another player to watch is freshman Noemie Piquet who played her first singles match over Alcorn, winning 6-0, 6-1.
