Record at Troy: 129-112, 45-39 SBC (13th Season in 2025-26)
Rawia Elsisi enters her 15th season overall and her 13th as women’s head coach at Troy, her alma mater, in 2025-26.
Rawia finished her 12th season under the helm with a 13-10, 6-5 SBC record with six sweeps during the spring season, including a trio of league matches against Texas State, Louisiana and ULM to finish seventh in the standings. Under Rawia, Maria Guirguis and Valeriia Avdeeva earned All-Sun Belt Singles Second Team nods as the pair combined for a 46-16, 15-4 SBC record. The pair was also solid in doubles play, with a 17-11, 5-4 SBC record on court one. In the Sun Belt Tournament, she coached the Trojans through No. 10-seed Coastal Carolina, 4-2, and No. 2-seed App State, 4-3, to reach the semifinals for the second straight season and finish as the No. 10 team in the ITA Southern Regional Rankings. Meanwhile, in the fall tournament schedule, Rawia coached Leena Metwally to a 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles at the Samford Fall Invitational to open the 2024-25 season. She ended the fall schedule in the historic Roberta Alison Fall Classic as her Trojans went 7-2 in singles and 2-1 in doubles with wins over Louisville, Mississippi State, Auburn, Georgia and South Alabama.
The Trojans are coming off one of their best seasons in program history after securing 16 wins in 2024, it's most since 2014 (15). Troy also claimed its most conference wins since joining the Sun Belt with nine. Troy made it all the way to the Sun Belt Tournament Semfinals, before coming up short to App State. In conference play, Troy picked up wins against No. 70 Georgia Southern on the road and a home win over South Alabama – the first time Elsisi has defeated the Jaguars. Hagar Ramadan-Amin and Leena Metwally earned All-Sun Belt Second Team honors in doubles after posting a 7-0 record, with all seven wins coming in conference matches.
Newcomer Gabrielle Leslie posted a remarkable 20-1 record, with her lone loss coming indoors. Five Trojans recorded double-figure singles wins in the spring. As a team, Troy finished the season with an overall singles record of 80-49 in the spring and a doubles record of 32-26 in the spring. Following the strong showing this year, the Trojans were ranked the No. 7 team in the ITA Southern Regional rankings.
The strong 2024 campaign came after 13 wins in 2022-23. En route to the 13, she led the team to its best start in recorded history after going 7-1 in non-conference play - outscored opponents 43-7 - and won five straight in SBC play, the longest conference win streak since 2009 (6). In the fall, she coached Kristina Kukaras to the No. 99 rankings in singles for the ITA after she won the Patti Famer Singles Draw at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic.
From 2020-22, Elsisi amassed an 18-24 record with two straight quarterfinal appearances. In 2021-22, the Troy alum helped coach the Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year, Hagar Amin.
Elsisi has compiled a 45-41 record in her first four seasons with the Trojans. Juniors Sanae Ohta and Nancy Karaky were named All-Sun Belt First Team in doubles.
In 2015-16, Troy went 12-9 overall, earning key conference wins against Appalachian State, ULM and Georgia Southern. The Trojans also defeated Mercer, UAB, UT Martin, FIU and Florida Atlantic in non-conference play.
In her first season as the Trojans' head coach, Elsisi led the team to a 15-8 overall record and an appearance in the Sun Belt Championships semifinals.
Individually, Trang Huynh and Anja Cosovic both earned All-Sun Belt honors during Elsisi's first season as head coach and also competed in the 2014 ITW Women's All-American Championships. Huynh also appeared in the ITA National Singles rankings while the pair appeared in the ITA National Doubles rankings.
Elsisi served as an assistant coach for the tennis program in her first two seasons, working mostly with the women’s program.
In those two seasons she helped the Trojan women to a winning record in each, including a 17-6 campaign in 2013 that included a 12-match winning streak, the third longest in the nation at the time.
Also in those two years, the Trojans had four All-Sun Belt selections (two singles, two doubles) and had a doubles team in the ITA National Rankings in each season.
A native of Cairo, Elsisi was the number one ranked junior player in Egypt and won many national tournaments before moving to the United States to play collegiate tennis at Troy. She competed for Egypt in the 2001 Fed Cup in Turkey, posting a 2-1 record during the premier team competition in international women's tennis.
Elsisi played for Troy for four years from 2006-09, spending the majority of her career in the number one spot of then head coach Eric Hayes’ lineup. Elsisi helped the Trojans to a winning record in each of her four seasons after coming to Troy following a very successful junior international career.
She began her coaching career as a volunteer instructor at local tennis clubs from coast to coast, including the Malibu (CA) Summer Tennis Camp, the ITA International Tennis Academy (FL), the Bridges Family Resort and Tennis Club (VT) and the Advantage Tennis Academy (CA).
In addition to an accomplished tennis coach and player, Elsisi was an exceptional student, earning both her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Troy University.
She earned her bachelor’s in sport and fitness management with a minor in business administration in 2008, doing so in less than four years. Elsisi was a four-time Sun Belt Commissioner’s List honoree and won the Sorrell Award, given to Troy’s graduating female student-athlete with the highest GPA every year.
Elsisi earned her master’s degree in sport and fitness management with a concentration in sport administration in 2010 and has completed numerous professional presentations and had articles publicized since then. She has also served as an adjunct professor at Troy since earning her master’s degree.
