Women's Tennis Continues Fall Season in Baton Rouge

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's tennis travels to Baton Rouge, La., this week to compete in the ITA Southern Regional Championships beginning Thursday, Oct. 8, at the LSU Tennis Complex.
"Our team is really excited to get to Baton Rouge and have a chance to compete at a high level," head coach Rawia Elsisi said. "We showed a lot of resilience last week in San Marcos with the weather, and the girls were truly battle-tested. I think that'll translate well with such a prestigious fall tournament, and I'm excited to see what we can do."
The Trojans will begin the five-day tournament with singles qualifying rounds at 8 a.m. on Thursday. The main draw singles (Round of 64) will start on Friday, along with doubles Round of 64 and Round of 32. Play continues Saturday with the singles rounds of 32 and 16, as well as the doubles Round of 16. Sunday's action will feature singles quarterfinals and doubles quarterfinals and semifinals.
The tournament concludes on Monday, Oct. 12, following the singles semifinals and championship match, as well as the doubles final. Singles consolation matches may also take place throughout the tournament for players who lose their opening main-draw match.

River State Shoot-Out Recap
This past weekend, Oct. 2-4, Troy women's tennis concluded its' first tournament of the 2026-2027 season at the River State Shoot-out in San Marcos, Texas, finishing 9-9 in singles and 5-4 in doubles. Lamiss Haouas and Emilia Namyslo led the Trojans in doubles, going 3-0, defeating New Mexico State, 6-1, Texas State, 6-3 and Northwestern State, 6-3. Haouas also went 3-0 in singles for a perfect 6-0 weekend in her debut as a Trojan, beating UTSA (6-1, 6-3), New Mexico State (6-3, 6-2) and Texas State (6-4, 6-4).
Leena Metwally and Kenzy Elhamrawy each earned two singles victories, while Namyslo and Alexia Zarate added singles wins of their own. Troy also picked up doubles victories from Hiba Heni / Metwally, as well as Zarate / Elhamrawy, wrapping up the tournament with several strong individual performances.
