WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – The strong showing for Troy track and field continued at the Camel City Invite this weekend as Troy swept both the men's and women's 4x400 meter relay and women's 200m events.
"We continued to get better this weekend in many events," Director Marc Davis said. "Across the board, we continue to improve on performances. The theme for this season was to learn how to execute and advance to finals. It has to be a habit as we get into the championship segments of the season. With us being young, it's great to see our athletes being able to put themselves into scoring situations. Our conference is tough across the board. Our kids are going to have to step up to be successful."
After setting a school record in their last meet, the Trojan men were again the fastest group on the track in the 4x400-meter relay. Dwight Mason, Chance Armstrong, Gabriel Peacock, and Alex Robinson finished in 3:22.36 to place first once again.
On the women's side, Kasia Cooper, Vennessa Frank, Kyra Dalluge, and Maya Kelly took home first place after recording the second-fastest time for the women's 4x400 meter relay this season for the Trojans with a time of 3:51.23.
The women's 200m saw first place, represented by Troy as Shanyah Washington finished with a time of 25.57. In the women's 200m seeded event, Naveyh Frost also placed first after her time of 24.78.
For the third time this season, Jaggerd Moore claimed first in the men's high jump matching his personal record of 2.10m.
Troy saw plenty of top-five finishes in events across the meet, with freshman Tydreke Thomas placing fourth in the men's 60m. Julian Martin-Rogers also saw second place in the 60m hurdles.
Tanner Guest in the women's 1000m finished with a time of 3:01.44 to put her second, while Cadi Rowe placed fifth in the women's 5000m. The men's and women's shot put saw a Trojan each finish third, with Javon Osbourne and Biniosa Ezukuse having strong marks.
The Trojans will wrap up the regular season next week on Saturday, February 11, at the Bulldog Open.
